The Application Process
IGB International School (IGBIS) offers educational opportunities to eligible students who identify with the school’s vision and mission. To apply for admission to IGBIS please submit an online Application Form along with the Required Documentation listed below.  You are encouraged to make your application package as complete as possible. We will contact you if further information is required. Please note, all prospective students must have a completed application form and all required documents uploaded before their application can progress to the next stage of the process.

The Admissions Process
  1. Complete the Application Form, the Medical Form, and upload all required documents for prospective students. Our online application process will lead you through this checklist of requirements. You have the option of creating a parent account in our system during the process.
  2. Parents/Guardians will be notified by email or phone once the student’s complete application and documents have been received.
  3. After an initial review of the application, the student may be invited to undertake an admissions assessment and to have an interview with the respective Elementary School or Secondary School Principal. Parents will be asked to accompany their children to the interview.
  4. The Admissions Committee will review the student’s complete application and assessment and make a decision about acceptance to IGBIS.
  5. Families will be advised of the Admissions Committee’s decision, the grade level placement and start date. Possible outcomes are:
    • The student is accepted unconditionally.
    • The student is accepted on a conditional basis.
    • The students is accepted but placed on a waiting list.
    • The student is not accepted.
  6. Once a place is offered, a family will have a limited period in which to accept the offer.
  7. Invoices for fees will be sent to parents/guardians and upon receipt of fees, the student’s enrolment will be confirmed. (However, for 2014-15, enrolment will be confirmed subject to payment as invoicing will take place in May 2014).
Required Documentation
It is suggested that electronic copies of each document is prepared in advance. Please use the following checklist as a guide to submitting the required documentation:
  • A recent passport-style photo of each applicant (uploading in the Application Form).
  • Recent passport-style photos of each parent/legal guardian (uploading in the Application Form).
  • A copy of the applicant’s passport (personal details page) or a MyKad/My Kid for a Malaysian student.
  • For students who do not have a passport or MyKid, a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • Copies of parents’/guardians’ passport (personal details page) or a MyKad for Malaysians.
  • Copies of school reports for the previous 24 months. A certified English translation is required for reports not originally issued in English.
  • Any documentation relating to additional services your child is receiving or has received over the past 5 years. For example, an IEP/ISP; educational-psychological evaluation; speech and language reports; OT reports; etc.

Application Review
The Admissions Committee will review each student’s application in accordance with school admissions criteria.  Factors taken into consideration include:
  • Age of the student applying
  • English language proficiency
  • Previous school records and recommendations
  • Siblings applying to IGBIS
  • IB Programme experience
  • Nationality
  • Admissions assessment/academic achievement
  • Interview with student and parents
  • Available vacancy in the applicable class
Application and Enrolment Times
The IGBIS school year consists of 2 semesters. The first semester commences in mid-August and the second semester at the start of February. It is recommended that students apply early to begin school at IGBIS in the first semester; however places may be available later for students whose families relocate at a different time.
